LRP41 > There is one of these authentic WWII paratrooper C-47 planes still flying in Europe and still dropping paratroopers every year the the D-Day Commemorations over Normandy. Former Airborne Ranger Dallas Wittgenfeld hopes to utilize the historic aircraft to invade the Normandy coast in June 2007.

LRP41 > Soooo, I done some research and found this actual picture of the actual crew that flew the acual parachute and glider tow plane used in the Normandy Airborne Invasions of World War II.. That I am actually going to jump out of in 2007.

LRP41 > This researched historical picture is of the actual 101st Airborne paratroopers who jumped out of the airplane during the Airborne Invasion of Europe in June 1945. These are the actual warriors that Veteran paratrooper Dallas Wittgenfeld is going to be commemorating during the 2007 D-Day Commemorations over Carentan, France.

LRP41 > "Stand in the Door"... is the command that begins a paratrooper's descent to the combat zone. Notice the paratrooper's hands are OUTSIDE the DOOR of the airctaft. That is for a reason...

No turning back, now..!

LRP41 > In 1968, I volunteered during the Vietnam War, to become an Airborne Ranger Special Forces paratrooper and was trained at Ft. Benning Georgia (1969). This picture is taken in a barracks studio of every paratrooper before they ever jump.

We didn't even know how to put this parachute harness on. Notice closely that the capwell covers are NOT covering anthing and the reserve parachute looks like a dumy chute, too. I laugh now-a-days when I gaze at this death defying picture.

More amazingly is the fact that I now own and jump the very same type parachute equipment more than three decades later. It is this same equipment that I will be jumping over Normandy, France.

LRP41 > The WWII Normandy Airborne D-Day invasion was in early morning night and flown lowlevel letting the parachutists on the ground as soon as possible during anti-aircraft cannon fire.
